The Rude Guy.

On November the fifth when I was eight years old my family and I drove to Otaki to my dad’s friend’s house to have Guy Fawkes on their ranch.

We were greeted by a tall man named Lex and his wife Sandy. We entered, Dad and Mum immediately started to mingle with the other adults. Lex asked me if I could help herd the cows into the fenced off area. I was about to say no because I hated cows, I was thinking they might stampede over me. I shuddered at the thought. But dad exclaimed, “Great idea Lex, go on Joseph! So I went.

The cows were big and scary. Lex called the cows and both of us herded them into the grassy fenced off area. The sun was starting to descend, suddenly the cows mooed and bang, bang, bang, the sky was lit up by heaps of fireworks. Awesome! I ran back to where the other kids were, snatched a firework sparkler and started going nuts running through the trees with the other kids.

Soon it was dinner time and what’s better than food from a hungi? All the chicken and meat was making me extremely thirsty for a drink. I wanted a drink so I went into the house and got a can of coke; it was the first coke that I had had that night. I saw dad I new it was him because he is bald. I tried to get his attention. Didn’t work at all, so I shouted at the top of my lungs “DAD I GOT A COKE!’’ he didn’t even care, so I got my foot and kicked him hard in the thigh “ AHHH!’’ He shouted, he spun around and that was when I saw his moustache YUCK. IT WAS NOT MY DAD! I cried, people were laughing I ran, saw real dad, he exclaimed “You got a coke.’’

I said “It doesn’t matter.’’

At about twelve o’clock we got home from the party. I thought it wasn’t my fault that I kicked him, he should have looked at me, ignorant guy after pondering over that, thought I fell asleep. The next year I thought back about when I kicked the guy in the thigh. Maybe he didn’t think I was talking to him and maybe thought that I was talking to my real dad. I felt sorry for him and his thigh. That taught me to make sure who someone is before you make the kick.
